Terms & Conditions

Effective date: September 27, 2026 · Last updated: September 27, 2026

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the Court Reporting Voicewriting Academy website and any application, admissions, or program pages connected to it (together, the “Site”). The Site is provided by Court Reporting Voicewriting Academy (“CRVA,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

1. What CRVA is

CRVA provides online, self-paced, mastery-based court reporting training through the voicewriting method. The program is designed to help students develop the knowledge and skills to prepare to pursue Texas Certified Shorthand Reporter (CSR) certification. CRVA is an independent educational program. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of the Texas Judicial Branch Certification Commission (JBCC), the Texas Court Reporters Association, or any other government, certifying, or examining body.

2. No guarantees

We believe in honest expectations. Your results depend on your own practice, performance, and circumstances. CRVA does not guarantee certification, passing any examination, employment, job placement, income, salary, or a completion timeline. References to earning potential describe the profession generally and are not a promise of what you will earn. Official certification requirements, fees, and exam standards are set by the state of Texas and may change. You are responsible for confirming current requirements with the appropriate official sources.

3. Applications and admissions

  • Starting or submitting an application does not obligate you to enroll, and it does not guarantee acceptance.
  • CRVA reviews applications and holds Admissions Conversations to decide fit. Acceptance is at CRVA's discretion.
  • You agree that the information you provide in your application is accurate and complete.

4. Enrollment, tuition, and refunds

If you enroll, your enrollment is governed by a separate Enrollment Agreement that describes tuition, payment terms, any financing, program access, and the refund and cancellation policy. You will receive the Enrollment Agreement to review and sign before you enroll. If anything in these Terms conflicts with your Enrollment Agreement, the Enrollment Agreement controls. Tuition and payment options are reviewed with you during your Admissions Conversation before you enroll.

5. Equipment and software

Unless your Enrollment Agreement says otherwise, equipment and software needed for the program, including a computer, stenomask, and speech-recognition or transcription software, are purchased separately and are your responsibility.

6. Program access and your account

  • Enrolled students receive access to the program for the period stated in their Enrollment Agreement, currently up to 24 months.
  • Your account is for you only. Do not share your login or give others access to the program.
  • You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for activity under your account.

7. Learning support

CRVA Navigator, our Academic Companion, provides on-demand answers to routine learning questions and may use automated technology. Its answers are for study purposes only. They may occasionally be incomplete or inaccurate, and they are not legal advice or an official interpretation of certification rules. When in doubt, rely on your lessons, official sources, and Founder-directed guidance. See our Privacy Policy for how questions are handled.

8. Our content and your license to use it

All lessons, videos, dictation materials, handouts, assessments, text, graphics, logos, and other content on the Site and in the program are owned by CRVA or its licensors and are protected by copyright and other laws. We give you a limited, personal, non-transferable license to use this content for your own learning while you have access. You may not copy, record, download (except where we provide a download option), share, resell, publish, or create derivative works from CRVA content without our written permission.

9. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Site for anything unlawful, harmful, or fraudulent.
  • Interfere with the Site's security or operation, or attempt to access accounts or systems that are not yours.
  • Upload anything that infringes someone else's rights or contains viruses or harmful code.
  • Harass, threaten, or disrespect other students, staff, or the Founder.

We may suspend or end access for anyone who violates these Terms, as further described in the Enrollment Agreement for enrolled students.

10. Third-party services and links

The Site may link to or rely on third-party services, such as payment processors, financing providers, scheduling tools, and official certification websites. We are not responsible for their content, policies, or practices. Your use of them is subject to their own terms.

11. Disclaimer

The Site and its content are provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, CRVA disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Site will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, CRVA and its owners, instructors, and service providers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost earnings, or lost opportunities, arising from your use of the Site or the program. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Site will not exceed the amount you paid to CRVA in the twelve (12) months before the claim arose.

13. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold harmless CRVA and its owners, instructors, and service providers from claims, losses, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, that arise from your misuse of the Site or your violation of these Terms.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute relating to these Terms or the Site will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Texas, unless your Enrollment Agreement provides otherwise.

15. Text messages

If you provide your mobile number and opt in, CRVA may send you text messages about your application, Admissions Conversation, enrollment, and program updates. If you separately opt in to marketing messages, CRVA may also send occasional news and announcements. Each type of message requires its own consent.
